Bhaishri’s Sandesh – January 2009

Dear Divine Soul Sanket Barot,

Jai Shri Krishna

As we enter a new year, filled with hopes and aspirations, it is a good time for us to take notice of the direction life is taking us. All human beings are travellers or pilgrims on a long journey towards a higher goal and we often strive towards that goal. However, we often forget where we are headed. We have boarded the train of life but we have lost our ticket and thus, we do not know where we want to go. We are all honest, we all tread the path of truth and according to ethics, but we do not know the goal of our life.

It is not enough merely to be industrious nor is it good enough just to be an honest person. We must also be aware of our destination. If we are aware of our goal we may be inspired to hurry towards it but we have forgotten our goal in life and if suddenly we remember but don’t strive sufficiently to achieve it, it reflects our laziness. Once someone becomes habitually lazy it becomes a very difficult habit to remove and it is because of such laziness that the goal of life is forgotten.

The scriptures advise us that to attain true peace and happiness we must attain God and walk the path of a pilgrim. This is our true destination. In our everyday life we first wake up and then get up. However, in the spiritual life we must first get up and then wake up. The term ‘getting up’ here means ‘coming to your senses’. Hence, first come to your senses and then wake up to your divinity. On waking up in the divine consciousness strive to attain God. Stabilise the divinity in normal awareness.

I pray that in that year ahead, we all walk successfully on the pilgrim’s path, never forgetting our true destination and striving to achieve our goal.

With blessings,
Bhaishri
